U.S. Mission Pakistan is seeking applications from qualified individuals for Residential Plumber position in U.S. Embassy, Islamabad.

Basic Function of the Position – Basic function of the position: The incumbent works in the Facility Management section of the U.S. Embassy and carries out scheduled and unscheduled plumbing preventive maintenance and repair work on mission buildings and facilities including residential owned and leased properties. The incumbent repairs, and install plumbing as needed to support a variety of systems including but not limited to plumbing building and mechanical systems, potable water treatment and storage, wastewater treatment, fire sprinkler, swimming pool and landscape irrigation. Assists in the preparing documents for maintenance, repair, and renovation, including soliciting and monitoring contractors.

Qualification Requirements:

EXPERIENCE: EXPERIENCE: Minimum of three (3) years of experience in the repair and maintenance of building plumbing and mechanical systems and utility treatment operations is required.

EDUCATION: Completion of Secondary School (10 years of education) certificate is required or completion of vocational training from an accredited institute recognized as producing journeyman level technicians with specialization in the HVAC field is required.

Job Knowledge: The incumbent should have knowledge of maintenance and repair of plumbing and mechanical systems, fixtures, water treatment, potable water and wastewater treatment plant, swimming pools, fire sprinkler systems including sensors, alarms, building automation systems, hydronic systems, and water heaters. Must have knowledge of minor component replacement of motors, valves, pumps, controls and recording instruments. The incumbent should have knowledge of testing procedures in control devices to monitor, diagnose faults, determine current operating capacity to the design requirements, all in accordance with U.S. and host country regulations. Knowledge of reading and working from engineering drawings, specifications and material list is also required.

LANGUAGE: Level II (Limited Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of English and Level III (Good Working Knowledge) Speaking/Reading/Writing of Urdu are required. English language skills may tested.

Skills And Abilities: The incumbent carries out communication and interpersonal skills to answer queries from end-users. Should have ability to work as part of a team, work under pressure and a tight schedule. The incumbent should have flexible approach to work shifts and answer emergency calls at all hours.
